January wrap-up | Books, music and more!

I’m still confuse where the January had gone. I mean, it feels like yesterday that I was forcing myself to write 2017 instead of 2016 and now it’s the end of the month? Slow down time, would you? I’m still kind of living in the old year and now I should accept that it’s February already?

But let’s get back to the January. This month was a little bit better as far as books are concerned although I don’t think I’ve read that much. I caught up with my Slovak and Czech review copies because they were sitting on my desk for a long time and giving me nasty looks. I managed to read The Sun is Also a Star, which was a lovely book. I quite like it but it was missing something so I couldn’t give it a full five stars rating. My all-time favourite of this month was Illuminae. I still can’t get over how good the book was and now I borrowed it to my friend and I can’t stop fangirling with her. Also, Passenger was quite good, I really enjoyed that one.

Let’s see… what was so special about January… oh I know, Ed Sheeran came up with two new songs which I have on nonstop replay. If you haven’t heard… where do you live? Go change that. Your life needs it!

Oh, oh, oh, I know, I baked my first cake!! Whoop Whoop. And it was delicious, although the first time was a disaster. It was vanilla cake with chocolate frosting for my mum’s birthday and she doesn’t celebrate her birthday in a big way or anything but this time we even put candles on the cake and it was so much fun.

Also, I hit 670 followers on Instagram which is insaaaaane! At the beginning of the month I had barely 400 and I still don’t know how I got to this number but I’m grateful. Bookstagram was so much fun lately. Also, I decided to do bookstagram challenge for the month of February. Really excited about that.

I started writing my diploma thesis which is totally not exciting and cool and I had to rewrite the 15 pages I had which was just lovely. Seriously, I’m sweating blood just thinking about it.

So far this month was decent. It was stressful and hectic and I barely had time for reading at the end of it, but it could be worse. Which I’m grateful because I believe the first month of the new year sets the tone for the rest of the year. And no one wants to have a bad year, right?
Now, let's talk about February. Except the review copies I got, I set my TBR quite low because that way it's more possible I can stick to it. I definitely need to read Roseblood because I've been waiting for too long. Also, Eleanor and Park... it's time I finally dig into this one. And finally Cress, because I've been putting of this series for a long time now.

Also, I'd love to stick to yoga for the whole month because I'm really not flexible. Also, I get stressed easily and yoga usually helps me calm down and chill which I need. I definitely need it.

So, what books have you read this month? What books do you want to read the next one? Do you have any goals for the February?

  1. Wow, it sounds like you've been busy! I read a few of Mary Higgens Clark's books, and I'm not sure what I'll read it February- it looks like it's going to be a crazy month, so I'm just hoping to fit as much as possible in, haha.

  3. Hey there! I just found your blog through Victoria Tucker's, and it's absolutely gorgeous! I love your pictures and general aesthetic. And same - I sometimes even find myself writing 2012 and I'm just like whaaaa....where did that even come from. Apparently I've been living under a rock for 5 years. 0.0 Also, I loved Illuminae so much! Right now, I'm half way through Gemina and it's fantastic.

ALSO! I've recently started something called Project Canvas with a few people - Katie @ A Writer's Faith and some other people - it's an international writing resource/publication for writers. The idea is that everyone has a passion and expertise in writing, and something to share with the world. The book will be made up of "guest posts", per say, by many teen and young adult writers from the blogging world and beyond. Each author will choose a topic to write approximately 500-2000 words over; the end result will be a book of writing advice and inspiration. I wanted to reach out to you and see if you'd be interested in joining, since I can tell you're passionate about writing! We have a website here - projectcanvasbook.weebly.com - and you can email me at caroline.d.meek@gmail.com if you have questions. :) I'm so glad I found your blog, and I'm gonna go check out some of those other books you mentioned. :D
